Plains and Dunmore, PA -- Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District, unveiled ‘Project Main Street’ today in Plains Township, Luzerne County and Dunmore, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. ‘Project Main Street’ is the first component of Commissioner O’Brien’s Plan for Progress.
Project Main Street is a new revitalization and job creation program that calls for replacing aging Main Street transportation and technology infrastructures, burying unsightly power lines, restoring building façades, laying and widening new sidewalks, and installing energy efficient period lighting to spur the creation of family-sustaining jobs, reward small business owners, and restore community pride.
“By shifting our priorities from rewarding corporate greed on Wall Street to renewing and reenergizing our Main Streets, our country will be stronger than ever,” stated Commissioner O’Brien.
Project Main Street seeks to accomplish these goals by shepherding preexisting federal government resources and existing state and local Main Street initiatives to target the rebirth of Main Streets across our region and the nation.
“By bringing communities together throughout the 11th Congressional District of Pennsylvania and across America,” said Commissioner O’Brien, “we can work to reverse the decline of our Main Streets and restore pride in our communities. By reinvesting in ourselves—the hearts of our communities—we can foster a pride of place. Not only of where we are from, but who we are as citizens, invested in the successful development and growth of our home towns.”
